The third generation’s mobile phone tech, 3G is the upgraded version of a 2G that comes with faster data communication. Also, it’s able to serve you the latest network services with a greater capability that you’re using today. This is the one you’re using these days for fast internet browsing, app downloads, videos, and music. The most common one is that you can use it for the download and upload speeds respectively 14 Mbps and 5.76 Mbps. Probably, you’re using this one in your current mobile phone as it’s getting used in most countries across the world. If we talk about it as per the context of Australia it was introduced a few years ago. Now, the question is that “how does 3G work” and we’ll know it below in short with some related information.

    What is EDGE?

It’s important to know what EDGE is as it’s still getting used in some parts of the world. Also, it’s the successor of the current 3G and the upcoming 4G, 5G and so on. It means that EDGE exploded its head up for a short time before of the arrival of 3G. Finally, it was suspended in 2003 and it was not used in all the places where the GSM was. It’s widely known as improved GPRS that’s popular in the USA, but not here as EDGE is able to transmit data fastest way that’s more than 3 times of GPRS. It was able to run with GSM that was providing up to 1 Mbps and its average speed was 400 Kbps.

    What are 3G and 3G+?

At the end of 2011, it was next to a backdrop of important increases in grievances to local regulators and Telcos in Australia. That time, the mobile operators like Optus and Vodafone start to rolling out 3G and 3G Plus by using the lower frequencies to transmit data. In this case, frequencies at the inferior side of the spectrum move to advance and enter through the buildings’ walls in the better way. When Australia gets 3G+ data coverage, it was able to reduce the rates of complaints from its users.

    What is 4G/ LTE?

At this moment, 4G that’s also known as LTE is the most powerful wireless mobile technology, which is the successor of 3G. It’s the concept and standard refers to all IP and offers data speed up to 100 Mbps. That means you’ll get the fastest data transmission speed ever that’s up to 20 times faster than 3G. All devices such as the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy Note support LTE that was released in Australia late in 2012.

    Bottom Line

If you like to find the differences, you should use one of them that support 4G data speed or even a NBN $300 connection fee broadband package. Also, you’ll find two standards in 4G, such as WiMax (Wireless) and LTE (Long Term Evolution). And both of them are able to present you a high-speed data service where WiMax is designed for fiber, cable, or DSL connection. On the other hand, LTE is available from mobile network operators like Telstra and Optus.
